Mosca Music Completes Score for Discovery Documentaries CLAYTON, CA -- Pat Mosca, head producer/composer of Bay Area-based Mosca Music, recently completed the scores for two one-hour documentaries, both produced by Tam Communications for the Discovery Channel. Coast Guard Rescue Swimmers will air November 22 at 9:00 p.m. The special tells the story of Coast Guard rescue swimmers who risk their lives to save victims of boating and other accidents. Street Medics premiered October 8, and follows San Jose ambulance paramedics both on-scene and off as they go on real calls and discuss what their work means to them. The projects required not only original music throughout, but also a significant amount of audio sweetening, which Mosca accomplished with the help of Pro Tools with all plug-ins. "Reality documentaries are largely dependent on live, captured audio that is part of the story, a lot of ambient," explained Mosca. "It’s a very thick kind of sound that occupies a great deal of the audio space; and my challenge, then, is to write around and underneath that sound, to use the barest textures and tonalities to bring out the significance or emotion of each scene. Every note has to count." "I really rely on Mosca Music to deliver," commented Executive Producer Tam Fraser.
